On April 17th, 2023, Summit University, Offa welcomed a distinguished guest to its Innovation and Advanced Science Research Group (IASRG). Mr. Abiola Oladipo, the MD/CEO of Tiwakiki Limited, a Manchester-based company and an industry-based researcher, visited to network with partnering institutions. He collaborated with these institutions to win a research grant on the Remarkable project, which is worth 1.3 million Euros and funded by the EU.
The Remarkable project aims to implement Internet of Things (IoT) technology, drone surveillance for farm and soil quality inspection, Precision Agriculture, and staff exchange among the partnering institutions. This project involves 18 higher institutions around the world.
During his welcome address, Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer, provided an overview of Summit University as a fast-growing research-intensive institution. Since 2022, the university has submitted and won multiple research grants, including the Artificial Intelligence for Females in STEM (AI4FS) project, which is sponsored by the Royal Academy of Engineering in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Oladipo commended Summit University for including females in its research projects and expressed his interest in further collaboration with the institution. He is keen to explore research collaboration opportunities, drone technology to improve farm yield, visiting lecturer opportunities, and capacity development for students and staff at Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria.
